PRICE, FALLOWS & Co. LIMITED

Works History
The company was founded in 1966 as a fabricator of both heavy and light structural assemblies to the quarry, motor and petrochemical industries.
As a partial diversification a prototype 50 foot traditional narrowboat shell was commissioned early in 1999 This shell proved popular and resulted in repeat orders from the initial customer.
To enable a realistic delivery lead time to be maintained a single 8100 square feet bay of the factory was committed to shell production. Further bays have now been designated and this has given us a total area of 25000 square feet, which enables us to produce 8 narrowboats and 2 widebeam boats simultaneously. Further space is available to meet future demands. Each of the three bays has twin overhead cranes together with a 5 tonne semi Goliath crane to enable us to easily move steel plates and finished hulls.
Design
We produce narrowboat shells in three styles - Traditional, Semi-Traditional and Cruiser in lengths up to 70 feet.
We can also offer widebeam shells of 10feet 3ins, 11feet and 12feet wide and in lengths up to 70 feet. These are available in Traditional, Semi-Traditional and Cruiser styles.
We can produce single piece base plates up to 58 feet long and corresponding hull sides, cabin sides and roof plates.
Our shells have been well designed and fabricated to a high standard.
Steel Spec
We use steel to EN 10025 standard sourced from British mills and stockholders. All our steel is stored under cover to prevent rusting. The floors of our boats are made from 10mm. The hull sides are from 6mm, the cabin sides from 5mm and the cabin roofs from 4mm steel.
Welding
All seams are welded both sides with single 'V' butt weld preparation where required.
Finish
A single coat of high build zinc phosphate primer is applied to all outside surfaces above the upper rubbing strip. High build bitumen is used on hull sides up to the rubbing strip.
Testing
All welds below the water line are ultra violet tested.
Delivery
We will always endeavour to meet customers needs but in order to maintain our quality standards we will not rush the work.
We will be happy to give you a guided tour of the factory either before or during the production of your narrowboat shell.
